Studying Beauty Therapy

Hello guys! I thought I’d do a little chit chat post and talk about studying Beauty Therapy.
I have been studying Beauty since September and absolutely loving it. It is defiantly what I want to do and I have found something new that I love. I’ve learnt so much already, more than I thought I would. I wasn't initially going to study Beauty Therapy at college but i knew i would enjoy doing that and I wasn't sure what else i would study. so i went ahead with it. At school I got C's and B's in most subjects (exempt P.E. and R.E. which didn't really matter to me), so that helped me get onto the course at a higher level.

I'm studying NVQ level 2 Beauty Therapy and in september I will be going on to study NVQ level 3 Beauty Therapy General route (or massage route) so overall the course will be 2 years long but you don't have to study for the second year. The reason i would like to study the second year is because i would LOVE to go on the cruise ships and work there or working in a spa.
Would I recommend it?
Yes defiantly, if you enjoy things about Beauty (makeup, skin, nails, ect) I’m sure you would love it. I wasn’t sure about studying it at first, thinking I’d like to work with children but starting I knew it was for me.
What do you learn?
We have learnt so much in the past 6 months, I am studying NVQ level 2 Beauty Therapy and that is the highest course I could have applied for from leaving school and next year I will be carrying on to studying NVQ Level 3 Beauty Therapy, But so far on level 2 we have learnt:
·         Facials
·         Manicures
·         Pedicures
·         Eye treatments (eyelash tint, eyebrow tint, eyelash extensions)
·         Waxing
·         Makeup (basics)
·         All special treatments (paraffin wax, masks, scrubs, oils)
·         Some Anatomy and physiology

And we are now starting on clients, getting in our own clients (family, friends etc) and strangers coming into the college salon to have treatments done by us. If you are interested in studying beauty Therapy go into your local college or look online. I'm sure you'd love it!

James Brown Products

James Brown with Kate Moss

Vogue Cover shot by Corinne Day and styled by James Brown

James brown is a London hair stylist who has his own range of products what are available to by from boots. He has worked with many famous people and his first Vogue cover was on Kate Moss in 1994. He has Alison done a program in 2011 called "Great British Hairdresser" which a lot of people will recognize him from.

I have tried quite a lot of his products, i first tried his products when my sister bought me a set for christmas and loved them all, this was his first range which is called 'James Brown London.' I am now trying his newest range which is called 'Photo Favulase' and I'm also loving this. It doesn't smell as nice but it dose give my hair more volume than normal and still makes it nice and soft, i have also treed the hairspray and mouse which do smell more and it a nice smell, i found the mousse was a little to tacky but the hairspray is great and you only need a really small amount of it for it to hold what you want.

The first photos are the products i bought in a set from Boots at Christmas time, I think it cost about £20 and i was really happy what i got, i like all of the products (not so much the mousse) i  was looking for some large rollers at the time anyway but i think they would be the same as any others. The shampoo and conditioner are just great like i said they leave your hair lovely and soft though with more volume. and the hairspray goes an awful long way and last the full day. I am also loving the wet bag, great to take to the shower.

The prices range from about £6.00 to about £9.00 but personally I i think that is a reasonable price for a good hair product.

January favorites

Hey guys! This post is going to be about some of the items I have loved to use during the month of January. This month I have had a few new things added to my all time favorite items and I will be adding them into this post. Some of them are new and are the first time I have used them but I know they will not be changing for a long time because I absolutely love them.

My first favourite is Marc Jacobs- OH, LOLA! (50ml) Perfume, it is soso nice and I got it in a gift set with the body lotion and shower gel at Christmas and it was only £25!! It is absolutely gorgeous and if you haven’t smelt it I recommend you to go into boots and ask for a tester so you can because I don’t think you will resist. Also the bottle on this perfume is beautiful. http://www.boots.com/en/Marc-Jacobs-Oh-Lola-Eau-de-Parfum-50ml_1220319/
Next on my favourites is the No.7 Hot Clothe Cleanser, I have loved this in the month of January, cleansing over my face with that every morning and night leaves my skin feeling refreshed and it is so soft. But I’d just like to note, if you buy one make sure there is a muslin cloth inside because I bought mine and there was no muslin cloth. http://www.boots.com/en/No7-Radiance-Boosting-Hot-Cloth-Cleanser-200ml_953890/
Also in January I have been loving the Elf Wet Gloss, Lash And Brown Clear Mascara, Just running it over my brows every morning makes them look neater and like they are well groomed and its super duper cheap from the Elf website. http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk/product~prodID~12.htm
One thing I have been using everyday is my Yankee Candle, mine is in the sent pink sands and it is sooooo night, every night when coming in from college I will be burning this, and it has hardly gone down. I got the medium jar but they are available in all sizes. http://www.yankee.co.uk/yankee-candles/3402/pink_sands_br_medium_jar.aspx
Every morning I will apply a few drops of VO5 Argon oil into the ends of my hair and it just works a miracle my hair feels so silky soft and just so nice! http://www.boots.com/en/Vo5-Miracle-Concentrate-Elixer-with-Argan-Oil-50ml_1228559/
This month I have also loved wearing the combination of Barry M Indigo and Barry M (Limited Addition) Silver glitter, they look really pretty and I love Barry M polishes because of the thick consistency and reasonable price. http://www.boots.com/en/Barry-M-Limited-Edition-Nail-Paint_1241455/

FOTD

Hello again there! Today I wanted to show you what I’m wearing on my face. I’m really loving the combination of a bright lip and just a neutral or lined lid.

Sleeks Matt lipstick in the colour Papaya Punch (782) on my lipsand wearing Collection 2000 Extreme 24 hour felt tip liner but when I haven’t worn that I have done a neutral Smokey eye using my Good Earth and Eden palette from No.7. I would like you to know I have a few No.7 palettes and love them all (most of them are bought in sets) I also think most of the No.7 products are really good (especially the skin care range). Also on my face I am wearing Rimmel Lasting Perfection Foundation which I‘m also love in the winter season. And I have just contoured my cheeks with an old Avon Matt bronze. The mascara I am wearing on my short stubby lashes is No.7 Extravagant Lashes, which has a huge brush and I love it! More posts coming x

Free No7 Smoky Rose quad

Hello girlys!
Just thought I'd let you know about this eyes quad i got free from Boots the other day when i bought a new mascara, you get it free when you buy ANY No7 mascara from Boots
I created a beautiful smoky eye with it and the Shadows in the quad are really pigmented and also very easy to blend and work with and I love it!
the Quad is normally £6.50 (I think) so is a great deal and boots are also giving out the £5 off No7 produces when you bye certain things, I bought the Extravagant Lashes mascara (using a £5 off voucher) and i got the Mascara and the quad for just £7.50!
Much love

Christmas nail art!

These are my nails which i painted today. I think they are nice and christmasy
to get into the spirit :)

How to do them:
  • Paint all your fingers with a red manicure tip.
  • paint over the full nail with a glitter nail polish.
  • on your ring finger paint three lines which all cross over each other
  • put dots at the end of all the lines using a dotting tool
  • then below those dots put another set of dots (closer to the centre of the lines)
  • put  a small silver gem in the middle
  • and finally coat with the same glitter polish

Hope you like this guys, merry Christmas, hope you all have a great time this year! :)
Much love Serena xxx

Getting into the Christmas sprit

I thought I'd start my blog off with a Christmas tag, i wasn't tagged to do this but thought I'd do it anyhow just get a little bit Christmasy! :)

1) Which holiday do you celebrate? Christmas
2) What are you doing for the holidays this year? Ill be waking up at my mums, opening presents here, having Christmas dinner here and then at about 1:30 my dad will come and pick me and my older brother and sister up to take to his house and spend some time with him, then he will take us all home and we will sleep at home :)
3) What's your favorite holiday drink? I don't really have a holiday drink, with dinner we all have a glass of wine so i could say that because we never drink wine with dinner, so yes, wine.
4) Candy cane or Gingerbread men? Ginger bread men all the way.
5) What's your favorite holiday/Christmas song? Either band aid - do they know its Christmas or Wham - Last christmas
6) What's the weirdest gift you've ever received? I don't think i have received anything wired, someone gave me turkish delight one time, that was weird for me...
7) Have you ever made a snowman? Plenty of times :D
8) What is your favorite winter fragrance? cinnamon
9) What is at the top of your list this Christmas? (or whichever holiday you celebrate!) I haven't really asked for anything, just some new clothes :)
10) What is most important to you about the holidays? Spending time with all the family and having fun with them all, seeing everyone smiling. :D
